What many people don't realise is that hypnosis is a completely natural state, a state which you have been in and out of all of your life, even before you were born.
In the last 3 months of being in the womb you experienced the most intense REM (rapid eye movement) state of your entire life. This is when incomplete templates were programmed into your brain at a subconscious level. These templates were incomplete to ensure flexibility for your survival so that you could recognise a nipple to feed but could also take milk from a bottle.
But . . . these templates can be hijacked!
When you are in the FREEZE stage of the Fight/Flight response the "attention gates" in our brains are opened and our subconscious mind records everything experienced through the five senses. This is a survival learning mechanism and is designed to keep you safe in the future by keeping these patterns active in the brain in case of a similar situation occurring.
The brain is a pattern matching organ and if an experience has been marked as a potential threat it will keep the template active and will be on the alert for things, or experiences, that may be similar. This can cause us problems when the pattern match is a faulty one. An event doesn't need to be traumatic in reality for our brains to interpret it as such.
Hypnotherapy is one way the subconscious patterns, which are causing an issue, can be accessed and changed for something positive. At least 95% our behaviour is run on subconscious patterns so it's like recording over an old video with something we want to watch.
This really is the power of the subconscious.
