That is the question!
When we sleep well our body is physically repaired and restored to its optimum performance, our immune system is functioning well and we feel good and full of energy with a zest for life!
But when we experience poor sleeping patterns for whatever reason, whether that be due to stress, being worried, grief or depression, pain or simply having formed a bad habit, we really notice how it affects our energy levels and our mood.
Only 2 hours less sleep equates to being 25% less efficient the following day and also affects our emotional balance, not only causing physical tiredness but also a heightened emotional state.
Sleep is so important that without it we would simply die. The REM (rapid eye movement) stage of sleep, when we dream and let off steam, is designed to deactivate any undischarged emotional arousal that would be unproductive and deplete our energy.
Is there something troubling you which is affecting your sleep? Is now the time for you to improve it?
